SYNOPSIS :

This unique project was nick named “Sky on the 18th Floor” by the clients. The clients brief was a modern contemporary home with a “ Zen “ feel and within a moderate budget. When we walked into this top floor site for the first time, it was a compact 2 bedroom apartment but with relatively high ceilings and unrestricted views from the windows. We instinctively broke down the kitchen walls and combined the living, dining and kitchen into one large multiuse free flowing space. We added wooden floors, raw cement boards as wall panelling, solid wood screens and wooden top, grey stone wall for the kitchen and bamboo plants to complete the zen feel.

The bedroom wall in the passage was designed with frosted glass and wooden fins to create a multiuse space. This was a lounge cum occasional guest bedroom. We introduced a raised wooden platform and enveloped it with wooden planks of varied species of wood on all 3 sides with led strip lights. This has a dramatic effect and continues the zen theme. The common passage wall incorporated the words Peace, Purity, Love, Soul, Belief, Strength as a wall composition. The master bedroom treatment was rustic wood panelling on headboard wall and floor, white back painted glass wardrobes from floor to ceiling and white wall unit with wooden niches for books. Concrete hanging lights and fabric blinds accentuated the look. All washrooms were finished with black stone floor and concrete grey texture for walls with wooden counters.
